Pure Class A Preamp

Vintagedesign M87D replaces the M81Dmk2! M87D features the same class-A output-stage and transformer as found in Vintagedesign’s 19" units and M73D. The input-stage is an updated version of the stage found in the M81R and M581 which has a little more modern and open sound than the M73D. The gainswitch has 11 positions and a gainrange from 0dB to 50dB gain or 50dB to 80dB with the +30dB switch active. An all new function is the "AIR" switch which boosts the high frequencies for a more "open" sound. The instrument input features a high-impedance FET input that feeds the input-transformer via a class-A driver stage, Same circuit as in the DMP and CA-. Finally it has the same typ of headroom-meter as the DMP and CA-units.

The single-channel M73D features the same class-A microphone preamp found in Vintagedesign’s DMPmk2 and CA73/81mk2. The instrument input features a high-impedance FET input that feeds the input-transformer via a class-A driver stage!

SU2 is a 16-channel summing unit that replaces the SU1. It has two inserts, one parallel with a dedicated blend-control and one main-insert after the outputtransformer. The unit also has separate outputs for monitors with it’s own level-control.
Channel 1-8 are switchable as dual-mono or stereo pairs, while channel 9-16 are grouped as four fixed stereo pairs. To enable insertion of outboard gear between the DAW (or DA converters) and the SU2, each channel features a
-10dB pad switch, ensuring the outboard gear interfaces at proper levels.
SU2s signalpath is a fully discrete circuit design with six discrete amplifiers and two single-ended transformer balanced class-A amplifiers.
This is the optimal unit in this pricerange, offering both serial and parallel processing and a desirable fat, warm sound.

Vintagedesigns ProPack is more or less a CA73mk2 and a C1mk2 under the same hood. The signalpath is almost the same as in CA73mk2 connected to C1mk2 minus the C1mk2 outputstage . ProPack uses a new inputstage which is an updated version of the M81 inputstage. The gainswitch has 11 positions and a gainrange from 0dB to 50dB gain or 50dB to 80dB with the +30dB switch active. The instrumentinput uses the same FET circuit as in the DMPmk2 and CA73/81. Like the CA73/81units ProPack also has a separate XLR input but in the ProPack it's activated by a dedicated switch. New to ProPack is that the HP-filter is now a separate circuit and can be activated without activating the EQ section. An sequenceswitch for the EQ/compressor is also provided if you like to have the compressor pre EQ. An all new function is the "AIR" switch which boosts the high frequencies for a more "open" sound. The compressor section is the same as the C1mk2 except for an extra ratio position, 8:1.

CL1mk2 is a fully discrete class-A stereo compressor/limiter based around classic diode bridge designs of the 1960’s and 1970’s.  Diode bridge dynamics controllers are revered for their smooth gain control.

All input and output connections are balanced and floating using traditional Carnhill/St. Ives transformers for classic vintage sound.  In fact, the combination of these transformers, the all class-A circuitry, and the use of diode bridge gain reduction technology yields the one of the most desired sound characters of any dynamics device ever – smooth, elegant compression with warm, soft distortion.

Some of the most wanted vintage compressor designs, like the 2254, 2264, 33609, Siemens™ and EMI™ used this type of design.
